Andrew Symonds Car Accident - Former Australian Cricketer Andrew Symonds Passed Away
Former Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds has died in a car accident near Townsville, Queensland.
Queensland police said a former cricketer was driving down Hervey Range Road near Alice River Bridge when his car derailed and overturned.
Andrew, who played all three game modes, was a right-handed middle-class batsman. The Australian cricketer has played 26 Tests in Australia, 198 one-day internationals and 14 international Twenty20 tournaments.
Symonds was known for both mid-speed and off-spin bowling.
Police said the rescue service tried to revive the driver and the only passenger, but he died as a result of injuries when the car derailed and crashed.
Symonds, larger than life, was very popular, not only because of his rough approach to the game, but also because of his relaxed personality.
He is widely regarded as one of Australia's best cricketers we've ever seen, and was a key member of the team that won 50 consecutive World Cups in 2003 and 2007.
