ONE PIECE FILM: RED was a huge hit in its first weekend after being released to 495 screens across Japan on August 6, where the film sold 1.57 million tickets and sold 2.25 billion tickets, reaching 10,000 yen.
It is the largest premiere in One Piece film history, the best August opening weekend in Japan, and the second largest two-day opening weekend in Japanese film history.
In an overview of how well One Piece Film: Red performed, it already grossed almost half of 2009's One Piece Film: The Strong World and launched One Piece Film: Z as the top-grossing film of 2009.
