The moon and Venus, the brightest planets in our solar system, made a rare conjunction in the sky on Friday.
Objects were visible in the same field of view until Venus moved away from the Moon and disappeared. Although they were miles apart, the two of them were in nearly symmetrical orbits. A planetary conjunction occurs when two celestial planets appear together in the sky.
The two objects are in the same line of sight to the viewer, giving the illusion that they are approaching, explains the Indian Astronomical Society outreach and education.
